ADPARS™ TETRA Radio Systems
The UHF TETRA Radio System is a TErrestrial-TRunked-Radio - a digital trunked radio system that incorporates GPS based Vehicle Tracking. The UHF TETRA system is a computer-controlled Two-Way Radio system that allows sharing of Radio Frequency channels among a large group of users. TETRA users are assigned to a "talk-group" instead of being allocated one radio channel. When any user in a talk-group wishes to converse with another user a vacant ‘digital slot’ in a radio channel is found automatically. Simultaneous conversations can occur on one radio channel, utilising idle time between conversations. The UHF TETRA Radio System is a Safety (Safety and Mission) Critical System with respect to personnel safety and shall remain fully operational during emergency situations.
TASHKOO offered TETRA radio systems comply with the full range of ETSI TETRA Standards including EN 300-392 and ETSI TR 100 392-17-4 and ETR 027 and 028.
The UHF TETRA Radio System provide radio communications between all radio users within the radio coverage area. The radio coverage area includes areas where personnel can be expected to be present at any time, including radio coverage along all the flow-line and pipeline routes and associated facilities.
TASHKOO can offer both TETRA Base Stations and radio terminal equipment (i.e. desktop radios, vehicular radios and handheld radios). A site survey, propagation study and coverage calculations will be conducted (if needed) prior to any estimation on the number and locations of base stations (normally inter linked on the Ethernet/TCP-IP backbone network) and systems parameters such as height and gain of the required antennas. To ensure that the System will provide the radio coverage specified studies will be provided supported by field surveys, calculations and coverage tests to prove that there will be adequate radio coverage between handheld radios at all locations, including within buildings/ shelters/enclosures. A radio signal coverage map will be produced showing the resulting radio coverage from each individual radio base station showing the coverage area that is available for each type of field unit such as desktop, vehicular and handheld radio.
The TETRA System allow both open channel/group and selective station calling. The heart of a TETRA system is a Switching and Control node which enables switching and routing of voice and data traffic plus provide overall network management and interoperability between the radio base stations. The based stations will be installed to provide the required radio coverage and should be interconnected to the main switching & control node via a backbone network (i.e. fibre optic or radio microwave link) which can be redundant for higher reliability.
In a TETRA system design for Oil & Gas industries, all handheld radios will be certified for use in hazardous area as per projects requirements and standards. In this case the transmit power will be limited to 1-2 watts (depends on standards and project specificatios)
The users of ETRA network will be assigned a Class of Service (CoS) which define their level of access to other Telecommunication Systems. In an industrial complex, TETRA system may have interface to other telecommunications systems such as:
• Telephone System
• Public Address General Alarm (PAGA) System
• Data Network System
• Multi-Channel Digital Voice Recorder System (MCDVR)
• Fire & Gas System (F&G)
• Telecom Network Management System (TNMS)
